I Will Lift and Catch You

Give me your heart, my love, place it here in my hands,

I will do such a wonderful thing in you,

I will do as the rain upon the grass, soak and saturate you,

I will do as the sun upon the meadow, warming and growing,

I will pour this spring into you, fill your living, beating well,

I will water and tend the garden of your heart,

As a vineyard I will husband you, bring your fruits to the press,

We will make such a sweet wine together, potent and strong,

I will fill the cup of your body, fill you satisfied and sighing,

Bright and dazzling I will fill you, as the stars fill the darkness,

I will make you to glow and shine, feed the fire of you with my body,

Feed it every part of me forever, I will feed it my soul,

Every hurt and broken place, bound and soothed,

I will draw out the poison of sadness and worry from your heart,

Cast down every despairing shadow, flood every corner with love,

Build you as the mason upon the wall, the carpenter upon the beam,

Every joint fitted, every stone bound and mortared in deep love,

I will guard you, my greatest treasure, protect you unto life,

I will work upon you what the wind works upon the wing,

I will lift you, make you to fly upon the sky of me,

A falcon sailing waves of air, crests of clouded foam,

Dive with me, my love, turn and wheel, I will lift and catch you,

We will ride the swift streams of air upon these wings,

We will swim the air in the skin of our flesh,

Our hearts will fly between, souls outstretched and touching,

I will water and grow you, fill and feed you,

Guard and protect this heart, body and soul,

Building and working, with these strong hands, holding,

I will fly with you, I will lift and catch you.
