Spring Comes Wrapped in Summer’s Heart

My heart cries out for you, straining for the touch of you,

For your hands, your lips, your breath upon my neck and in my ears,

I hunger for the feel of you, the feel of your warm spirit,

Roaming about me like a panther, eyes so penetrating, seeing me,

I need your laughter, your cool voice ringing like bells,

Need your sound in my heart, your taste in my mouth,

My spirit paces about all day, restless, hungering, aching for you,

I want to tear down mountains, cast away seas and desserts,

Sprout wings and shoot burning through the sky, a flaming star,

Burn this place behind me, leave it smoking in the dust of these memories,

I want the red sunset of your body in my eyes, between my lips,

I want to plunge into your spirit, engulfed in the cool fire of you,

I want to breathe you like air, swim you like water,

My whole heart craves this embrace of spirits and bodies,

I want the touching of minds and holding of hearts between us,

I feel the bond of you pulling me, drawing me closer,

In the night my body sleeps, but my spirit goes wandering,

Searching the hands of night for your warm embracing,

Sifting the ashes of old dreams for your lips and hands,

Morning finds me hot and dripping, starving for one more,

Moment in the arms of your spirit, one more mad embrace,

One more desperate press of lips and minds wrapped tight and wet,

These tears cool my cheeks but my heart is still racing,

I never knew spirits could weep so dearly, love so truly,

This night is so long without you, I cannot wait the dawn,

I cannot wait the day springing forth, the day of us,

My mind reaches, through curtains of time, churning earth, grasping sky,

Retreat oh twilight, I feel the sun come leaping and bounding,

Scatter you wintry shadows, spring comes wrapped in summer’s heart.
